WWU Invitational (Round 1 & 2)

BELLINGHAM, Wash. – At Bellingham Golf & Country Club on Tuesday, Academy of Art men's golf competed in the first two rounds of the WWU Invitational and saw themselves come out in 11th place overall by the end of the first day of action with a 18-over-par 594.

Currently ahead of Pacific Lutheran and Saint Martin's, the Urban Knights improved by 12 strokes in their second round of the day as they shot a 3-over-par 291. Individually, senior Giulio Zanichelli led ART U as he currently stands in fourth place overall with a 6-under-par 138. Shooting 12 birdies total on the day, Zanichelli closed out his second round with a 4-under-par 68 to jump four spots in the rankings as he searches for his second-straight top 10 finish after he did so at the SMU Bishop Invitational on Sept. 27.

Next up is freshman Mario Stump, who is tied for 36th place at 5-over-par 149 after he shot a consistent 2-over-par 74 with 14 pars in the round alone. Just a stroke behind is senior Anson Pan, who climbed seven spots in the rankings to finish the day with a 6-over-par 150. Freshman Kok Siew "Andy" Chew follows it up with a 13-over-par 157 while freshman Ekam Singh holds a 16-over-par 160.

Colorado Christian ran away with the team lead through the first two rounds with their 26-under-par 550, as the squad holds a 23-shot lead over second place Simon Fraser. Xavier Bighaus of Colorado Christian ranks first in the individual rankings through the first day of action with a 9-under-par 135, while his teammate Sangha Park sits just one stroke behind.

The WWU Invitational will see round three tomorrow as it will conclude the competition.
