BACK ON TRACK

Academy of Art men's basketball will return to conference play as the Urban Knights work towards the Pacific West Conference Tournament in just three weeks. ART U's first pair of their last six games of the regular season will obtain a home contest where they'll catch their first glimpse of Westmont on Feb. 15, and an away battle with Dominican on Feb. 17.

TIP-OFF
Saturday's contest with the Warriors is set for a 3:30 p.m. tip time from Laney College Gym while Monday's game will begin at 7:30 p.m. inside the Conlan Center at DU. Remember to follow @ARTU_Knights via the athletics app (Apple App Store, Google Play Store) and on Twitter & Instagram, as well as "Like" the Urban Knights on Facebook for score updates, videos, and recaps.

Treylon PayneKNIGHT WATCH
After the squad's Hawaii trip, ART U managed to bounce back nicely with a pair of conference victories against Dominican on Feb. 5 and Menlo on Feb. 8. Both finishing with double-digit differences, the Knights now rank third in the PacWest standings, only behind Point Loma and Biola as ART U will fight for a bye in the conference tournament with just six games to go.

Although the Knights' core scorers, who all average double-digit points per game in senior forward Isaiah Williams (14.4), senior guard Rodney Munson (13.5), senior forward Quintin Metcalf (11.1), and junior guard Donovan Vickers (11.0) have each been contributing to 14 conference victories all season, junior forward Robbie Armbrester has been seen in recent showings raising his average to 9.3 points per game after taking over a starting role. The defensive pair in senior guard Treylon Payne and junior forward Bryce Moore have also both put in vital efforts towards ART U's strong season, locking up defenders from coast-to-coast. Back to the offensive side, junior forward Damarcies Moore is coming off a season-high as he totaled eight points against UC Santa Cruz.

Key rankings for ART U in the individual conference statistical rankings include Williams' eight-place spot in points per game and seventh in steals, Metcalf's third in rebounds and second in blocks, and Munson's seventh in assists. As a squad, the Knights will look to continue allowing the lowest opponent field goal percentage this season (.409) in their upcoming matches.

WHAT'S UP WARRIORS
Currently rolling through the PacWest with a four-game win streak and with the highest field goal percentage as a team (.482), Westmont has recently climbed up to the fifth spot in the conference standings after taking down Concordia, Vanguard, Point Loma, and Azusa Pacific. The Warriors' battle with ART U could surely shake up the standings, as they're just one win behind on the conference record. While all eyes will be on guarding Adrian McIntyre who leads not just the PacWest, but the nation in NCAA Division II in points per game (28.2), ART U will need to look out for De'Undrae Perteete as well, who is coming off a 34 point game against APU. McIntyre will once again look to lead his team to yet another conference win against a conference top-ranked team in the Knights, as he is still riding high after a 51-point performance against PLNU, the new PacWest scoring record. In just two games against one another, the pair have split their contests to each be 1-1 headed into the weekend matchup.

PUTTING DOWN THE PENGUINS
Coming off back-to-back PacWest losses, Dominican's recent drops came from ART U and Biola, as they're now 1-6 in their last seven contests, only triumphing against Hawaii Pacific. The Knights' and Penguins' matchup saw a 75-62 on Feb. 5, where ART U managed to run away in the final minutes and find a lead as much as 14. Four players for Dominican have managed to score double-digit points this deep into the season, with the highest average being Darius Best's 12.0 points per game. DU also spreads the boards around evenly, as Nathan Ilunga brings in the most with 6.8 rebounds per game. ART U is undefeated in the pair's last seven showings, with Dominican's most recent win coming from 2021.

BANANA SLUGS OVERCOME ART U IN WIRE-TO-WIRE FINISH
A battle between Academy of Art men's basketball and UC Santa Cruz once again came down to the wire on Feb. 11, as the Banana Slugs snuck away this time to secure a non-conference 64-60 victory.

LOOKING AHEAD
ART U will return home for the last time this season to battle against Hawaii Pacific on Feb. 20 for ALS Awareness Day as well as UH Hilo on Feb. 24 for the Urban Knights' Senior Night.
