KNIGHT WATCH

Eight Urban Knights have now hit for extra bases through the team's first 19 games including junior infielder
Audrey Allen as her two home runs (11th in PacWest) and four doubles have helped contribute to a .279 batting average, 11 runs batted in, and 10 runs scored. Second on the team with four extra-base hits (one home run and three doubles) is sophomore outfielder
Ari Mallari while another new face in freshman infielder
Riannah Maulupe has upped her current hit streak 10 games while adding four runs batted in during that span. Sophomore outfielder
Lida Wos has hit safely in seven of her first eight games of the season, increasing her batting average to .478 thus far.
Junior pitcher
Kamielle Powell (2-9) has elevated to the top spot in the conference in innings pitched (75.0), carrying a 3.17 earned run average with 38 strikeouts (fourth in PacWest) to her name.
HELLO HILO
Slightly above even at 13-12 overall and 7-5 in PacWest action for the fourth spot in the standings, UH Hilo looks to reach its third-place projection in the conference's preseason poll particularly after sweeping both Chaminade and Hawaii Pacific to open its PacWest slate. Coming into this Bay Area series, the Vulcans have won just once in their last six contests with tough battles against Concordia and Azusa Pacific most recently. Helping UH Hilo into a tie for first in the conference in team triples (10) and second in batting average (.309) has been the trio of Jayda Favela, who is hitting .456 (third in PacWest) with 25 runs scored and 15 stolen bases (both fourth in PacWest), Victoria Macias, who is batting .409 (seventh in PacWest) with 23 runs batted in (fourth in PacWest), and Lexie Tilton, who boasts three triples (third in PacWest) and a .304 batting average. At 4-1 on the year, Madison Rabe paces the Vulcans with a 3.26 ERA. The historical matchup with ART U favors UH Hilo 22-14.
ATTACKING THE SHARKS
Picked to finish tied with ART U for ninth in the conference, Hawaii Pacific took two of three from Chaminade to open its PacWest schedule, but the Sharks have gone 2-7 since, tangling with UH Hilo, APU, and CUI. HPU, who faces Menlo on Mar. 14-15, ranks first in the conference in triples (10) and second in stolen bases (53) with Taryn Hirano's .458 batting average (second in PacWest) featuring seven triples (first in PacWest) alongside 16 stolen bases (third in PacWest). Defensively, Taylor Thompson (6-6) checks in with a 3.17 ERA through 75.0 innings pitched (first in PacWest). Though Academy of Art comes off a win in the all-time series most recently, Hawaii Pacific still holds a 30-18 lead.
BU MAKES LATE MOVE IN GAME THREE, TOPS KNIGHTS IN FINALE
The Pacific West Conference series between Academy of Art softball and Biola was a pitcher's duel early on
Mar. 8 before a late rally by the Eagles secured a 2-1 win which built momentum toward a 6-0 victory in the finale at Freedom Field.
ON THE HORIZON
Wrapping up the conference portion of its current homestand, ART U next hosts Chaminade for three games across Mar. 24-25.
