Caitlyn Smith began as an Academy of Art University associate head athletic trainer in 2025 after starting as an assistant athletic trainer in April 2023. She also serves as an advisor to the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
At Holy Names prior to ART U, Smith started as an assistant athletic trainer with HNU in May 2022 and went on to handle injury assessment and management as well as create and facilitate treatment plans with a primary responsibility of men’s basketball, women’s basketball, and golf.
Prior to working with the Hawks, Smith could be found assisting men’s volleyball at Stanford during the 2022 spring season. In 2021, she spent time in a variety of departments while serving as athletic training student at Oklahoma State University Medical Center including the emergency department, family medicine clinic, osteopathic manipulative medicine clinic, and surgery department.
Smith worked with San Diego State football also as an athletic training student in 2021 after providing practice and game coverage, injury assessments, rehabilitation programs, and manual therapy with high school football and wrestling in Oklahoma the year prior.
Upon earning a bachelor's degree in Kinesiology with a minor in Developmental Psychology from Cal State San Marcos in 2019, Smith received her master’s degree in Athletic Training from Oklahoma State three years later.
Smith is a certified member of the National Athletic Trainers Association and American Heart Association CPR and AED certified.
