Mitch Davis began as Academy of Art University assistant athletics director of sports information in July 2023.

Davis is responsible for all functions involving sports information, media relations, game oversight and statistics, while serving as a contact for all 15 intercollegiate teams at Academy of Art. In addition to maintaining the department's website, www.artuathletics.com, he creates pre and post-game releases and other publications along with filming and editing video content for the department's social media pages. He also serves as an advisor to the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

Most recently serving as a production assistant for the San Francisco Giants, Davis has spent the summer of 2023 assisting gameday operators and audiovisual technicians with replay machines, cameras, audio boards, and scoring systems among other production devices.

For the 2022-23 season, Davis handled all aspects of sports information in his year as a graduate assistant with Holy Names. In addition to recording live statistics, gameday duties, social media management, and content creation, he increased the Hawks’ live-stream revenue by 30 percent through improvements to their production across the board.

During his time as a student at Sonoma State, Davis was heavily involved with the Seawolves’ Athletics Department, Studio Blue TV, and KSUN Radio. He oversaw visual, audio, and graphics for home sporting event live streams on the CCAA Network and was the general manager for Studio Blue TV/KSUN Radio, overseeing content from both media pathways while managing groups for social media, communications, music, etc. and working hand-in-hand with the department’s dean.

A filmmaker in his own right, Davis took part in projects that represented Sonoma State’s first invitations to the Terminus Film Festival and Cannes Film Festival, winning Jury Awards in 2018 and 2019 along with an Audience Choice Award, NationWide Best Comedy, and nomination for NationWide Best Directing and Best Picture at Terminus.

Davis earned his master’s degree in Business Administration from Holy Names after finishing his bachelor’s degree in Communication & Media Studies with a minor in Film Studies at Sonoma State. Over the course of his collegiate career, he has been honored with the Alumni of Tomorrow Award as well as being named Student of Excellence, Graduate with Distinction, Magna Cum Laude, and Dean’s List.
