Gabby Bermudez Hired As ART U Assistant Athletic Trainer

SAN FRANCISCO – Academy of Art University Sports Medicine and Head Athletic Trainer Arielle Beauvoir have announced the addition of Gabby Bermudez as the department's newest assistant athletic trainer. Experienced at both the NCAA Division I and II levels, Bermudez has worked for San Francisco State, Santa Clara, and Humboldt State most recently.

"We are very excited to bring Gabby onto our staff," Beauvoir said. "She brings with her not only her experience, but also a dedication to improving our student-athletes' health physically, mentally, and emotionally."

After earning her master's degree in Athletic Training from San Jose State in May 2019, Bermudez spent the 2019-20 season as an athletic trainer with Humboldt State men's and women's cross country and track & field. She was responsible for injury evaluation and the implementation of rehabilitation protocols in addition to recording range of motion data for running analysis.

As part of the SJSU Graduate Athletic Training Education Program while pursuing her master's degree, Bermudez could be found serving as a graduate assistant athletic trainer for Santa Clara men's and women's water polo during the Broncos' 2018-19 campaign. In her first year as a graduate assistant, she was brought on to cover women's volleyball and track & field at SF State.

"I'm excited to work for ART U because of the staff," Bermudez said. "Everyone has been extremely nice and welcoming. They go above and beyond to be helpful. I am also excited to be working with the student-athletes because of their creativity and their commitment."

Bermudez earned her bachelor's degree in Athletic Training from San Diego State in 2017 where she served as an athletic training student for the Aztecs' baseball, softball, women's water polo, and women's swim & dive programs from 2016-17. Through the same education program that had her in SDSU's sports medicine department, Bermudez also spent one season with Grossmont College as an athletic training student working with football, men's and women's volleyball, women's basketball, and women's beach volleyball.

A certified member of the National Athletic Trainers Association, Bermudez is Mental Health First Aid, CPR, and First Aid certified as well.
