Graduate student Gatien Airiau made history once again at the Stanford Invitational, turning in a Nationals automatic qualifier and program record in the 3000m Steeplechase. His time of 8:49.73 broke his own school record set at the same meet in 2017. At the SF State Distance Carnival one day later, Airiau went 4:15.62 to place first of 41 competitors in the mile and second on the program's all-time list.

Airiau is currently ranked second in NCAA Division II in the 3000m steeplechase behind Chico State's Kyle Medina (8:44.40).

"Gas took a big step forward in his part of the plan this weekend," said director of track & field/cross country Torrey Olson. "It is so important in this part of our season for student-athletes to see each race as a part of their plan and Gas was a great example of that this weekend in California."
