Senior pitcher/utility Brenna Mitchell culminated her illustrious collegiate career with weekend full of highlights as Academy of Art University Softball made its first NCAA postseason appearance at West Regionals in Irvine. Over three games, the Interior Architecture & Design major hit .429 (3-for7) with a home run, three runs batted in, three walks, and one run scored. Additionally, she threw 2.0 scoreless innings of relief with one hit allowed, no walks, and one strikeout.
After going 1-for-2 with ART U's first hit off PacWest Pitcher of the Year Callie Nunes (25-4) of No. 12 Concordia on
May 10, Mitchell had the biggest hit of the weekend with a two-run home run that drove in and scored the winning run as part of a 1-for-3 performance against Cal State San Bernardino on
May 11. She would finish with a 1-for-2 effort in the
May 11 rematch with Concordia, driving in one of the Knights' two runs.
Closing out her collegiate career in dominant fashion, Mitchell entered as a reliever in Academy of Art's elimination game versus Concordia and threw 2.0 scoreless innings to keep the game tied 2-2. She ended on a 16.0 scoreless innings streak.
