Highlights from the home-stand: After dropping their first game of the home-stand to Notre Dame de Namur, the Urban Knights played a hard fought game against Grand Canyon University on September 26th. Playing during the heat wave, the women battled the Antelopes into double overtime before finishing the game in a 2-2 tie. The Urban Knights again had little rest before their next game and faced Dixie State just two days later. This time the women weren't able to keep up and ended up losing to the Red Storm 0-7.

Staying Strong: Despite being 0-3-2 in conference, some of the Urban Knights' players have been making big waves in the PacWest. In the past few weeks, two Academy of Art University players have made PacWest honorable mention in the Women's Soccer rankings. Leading the Urban Knights right now is freshman Carmela Doerr who has two goals on the season for a total of four points. Sophomores Olivia Dupon, and Morgan LeFever and freshman Jasmine Sharpe are all tied for second with one goal for a total of two points. Both Tanner McCandlish and Carolyn Cordeiro have one assist for one point on the season.

Scouting Hawaii Pacific: So far on the season, the Sea Warriors are 4-2-1 overall and 2-1 in conference. Academy of Art University will be Hawaii Pacific's first conference game outside of the Hawaiian teams.  Dyanne Anderson is leading HPU's team with five goals, and one assist for a total of 11 points. Megan Fuller is close behind her with three goals and two assists for a total of eight points, and Amber Fuller has four goals for a total of eight points on the season so far. Megan Fuller received player of the week by the Pacific West Conference for the week of August 31st, 2009. The Sea Warriors are currently ranked 3rd in the PacWest.

Scouting BYU Hawaii: BYU-Hawaii has a current overall record of 4-1 and a 2-1 conference record. They have played just three conference games so far, but the game against the Academy of Art University will be their 6th conference game of the season. For the week of September 21st, junior Natasha Aiono received PacWest honorable mention in the Women's Soccer rankings. Aiono scored two goals and finished with four points in their game on September 19th. Both junior Emily Mearns and sophomore Margaret Sekona also received honorable mention in the PacWest rankings for the week of September 21st. Mearns scored two goals (one was a game winning goal) for a total of four points in the game on September 19th; while Sekona also had two goals for a total of four points during that same game. The Sea Siders are currently ranked 2nd in the PacWest.

Scouting Chaminade University: The Silverswords are off to a slow start this season. As of October 1st, they have a 0-5 overall record and a 0-2 conference record. Marissa Faye and Whitney Williams are leading their team each with one goal for a total of two points on the season. Both Casey Boggioni and Andrea Molina-Vasquez each have one assist for a total of one point this year. Marissa Faye was selected to the 2009 pre-season PacWest all conference team. Faye was named to the PacWest first team in both 2007 and 2008. Chaminade is currently in 9th place (out of nine teams) in the PacWest conference standings.

Looking Ahead: After playing three games in seven days the Urban Knights get a few days rest before they play again. They will continue their home-stand hosting Dominican University on October 17th. The game will be played at 1:00pm at Boxer Stadium.
