Women's Soccer Brings On First Recruit For 2025 Season

SAN FRANCISCO – Academy of Art women's soccer has announced the first addition to the squad's 2025 recruiting class, as joining the Urban Knights next season will be defender Roxy Medina (West Sacramento, Calif./River City).

Roxy Medina"I chose ART U because I love the city of San Francisco and I instantly felt welcomed by the girls and coaching staff," Medina said. 

A dual-sport athlete at River City High School, Medina competed both as a flag football player while playing all four years of her high school career on the varsity soccer squad, turning into a two year captain in the latter half. Awarded with Metropolitan All-League honors in high school, Medina added a Team Most Valuable Player award to her accolades in the Monticello Empire League. Contributing to over 30 wins throughout her high school career, Medina was additionally part of a Metropolitan Conference Championship, having an undefeated 10-0-2 record in her 2023-24 season.

Playing club soccer on the side, Medina also played four years for San Juan SC in Rancho Cordova, Calif., winning another league championship in her time.

"I am most excited about continuing to play soccer at the next level as well as making friendships and lots of memories," Medina said.

While in pursuit of her future goal of working in sports management, Medina will join the School of Communications & Media Technologies this fall.
