Phoenix, Ariz. -- Junior
Irinel Zamfir from Academy of Art University has been selected as the final Pacific West Conference Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the 2009 season.
Zamfir earned the honor after finishing first in the AAU/NDNU Dual Meet that took place on Oct. 23. She was joined by juniors
Monica Anguiano and
Miranda Wiley, sophomore
Denisse Correa, and freshman
Stacey Toth on the Weekly Top 10 Honor Roll. The selections were announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, Oct. 26, for races contested on Oct. 23.


again took the top slot for the Urban Knights with a time of 20:26 at Speedway Meadow in Golden Gate Park. Two seconds behind her was
Correa (20:28) who captured a second place finish.
Toth completed the 5k course as the third AAU finisher with a time of 21:35 and
Anguiano took the fourth spot overall with a time of 23:13.
Wiley crossed in ninth overall (28:14) to round out the top five for Academy of Art University.
As a team, the five Urban Knights who were selected this week helped Academy of Art take first overall in the dual meet with NDNU. AAU's runners collectively finished over 15 seconds higher than the Argonauts.
This is the third selection to the PacWest Weekly Top 10 for
Zamfir, the fourth for
Correa, the second for
Toth, and the first for
Anguiano and
Wiley.
