Urban Knights Earn Victory Over Hilo 2-0

Fresh off their win just two days earlier, the Academy of Art University battled the University of Hawaii-Hilo on Friday afternoon. In the final match of their Hawaiian road-trip, the Urban Knights came out strong in every aspect of their game. The Vulcan offense was relentless, but the Urban Knights were determined to come away with another win.  The Urban Knights managed to score an early goal to take the lead. With strong defense behind them, the Academy of Art University was able to score one more goal in the first half. That would be enough to hold the Vulcans, and the Urban Knights ended up winning with a final score of 2-0.

Despite being outshot by the Vulcans 15-6, the Urban Knights were able to capitalize on their few shots in the game. Five of their six shots were on goal. The first goal came in the first six minutes of the game off an unassisted goal by Olivia Dupon. It was also Dupon who scored the second goal of the game, this time off a pass by Carmela Doerr in the 30th minute of play. Goal keeper Solveig Barnes came up with some big saves in the match, securing the win for the Urban Knights.

Sophomore Olivia Dupon had a tremendous day for the Urban Knights. She has two shots on goal and two goals during the match. Freshman Carmela Doerr also did well with two shots, including one shot on goal and one assist, and sophomores Miriam Tolentino and Morgan LeFever both had one shot on goal in the game.

The Urban Knights had another outstanding performance by goal keeper Solveig Barnes. Barnes allowed no goals and posted seven saves on the day. She also recorded her third win and shutout of the season.

For the Hilo Vulcans, Lynne Dupont had a good game with three shots, two which were on goal. Lauren Minami also did well with two shots on goal, and Jessica Snell had two shots, with one shot on goal in the game.

With the win, the Academy of Art University's record improves to 3-13-2 overall and 3-7-2 in conference, and Hawaii-Hilo's record is at 3-10-4 overall and 2-6-3 in conference. The Urban Knights will return to the mainland to play their final two games of the season. Their next game is scheduled for November 5th against Dixie State College. Game time is set for 4:30pm in St. George, UT.
