Phoenix, AZ -- Sophomore Amos Maru has been selected for the Pacific West Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for his first-place finish in the open race at the Sundodger Invitational in Seattle, WA. Two more Urban Knights, sophomores Daveson Marindich and Simon Mutai, were also chosen for the Weekly Top 10 Honor Roll. The honors were announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, Sept. 21, for races contested on Sept. 19.

In his first win at Academy of Art University, Maru completed the 8k course in 24:52.34 and led the Urban Knights to the top finish among eligible four-year schools - second among all entries. Maru's performance helped Academy of Art University to a impressive second place team score. He also ran a six-second personal record over his last year's time.

Out of the eligible runners, Marindich finished the race in sixth place with a time of 25:01.48, a new personal best, and Mutai crossed the line in 31st place with a time of 23:03.06, a three-second personal record besting last year. This is the second selection to the PacWest Weekly Top 10 Honor Roll for Marindich and the first for Mutai.
