IN THE HOUSE
The Academy of Art University will continue their home stand when they compete against two more Pacific West Conference opponents on Jan. 16 (Dixie State College) and Jan. 18 (Grand Canyon University). The Urban Knights are now 1-1 in conference with their last loss coming at the hands of Hawaii Pacific University on Jan. 7. In the Urban Knights 1-1 week Lorraine Etchell was the lone Knight to earn a nomination to the PacWest Conference weekly Top 10 Honor Roll.

Etchell led the Knights in scoring and finished the week averaging 18.0 points per game. In the Urban Knights' first conference [and home game of the season], she posted 20 points which tied for her season high. Etchell also added two steals and a blocked shot in AAU's 76-57 win over the Vulcans. In the Urban Knights next game against Hawaii Pacific University, Etchell went on to score 16 points while dishing out two assists, nabbing one steal and one blocked shot.

UP NEXT

AAU wraps up their five game home stint on Jan. 23 with a game against cross bay rival Dominican University. Following their contest with DU the Urban Knights head to Hawaii where they will compete against all four Hawaii Schools. Academy of Art starts the first half of their trip with rematches against Hawaii Pacific University and University of Hawaii - Hilo. The Urban Knights then head back to the island of Oahu where they face BYU – Hawaii and Chaminade University before returning to San Francisco.

SCOUTING THE RED STORM
Dixie State College is 6-6 overall and 2-1 in conference. The Red Storm had won their last three conference games, until last nights' match-up with the Argos of Notre Dame de Namur. NDNU edged out the [then] undefeated Red Storm 61-64. For the Red Storm Johnna Brown and Tanya Clark lead Dixie State offensively. Brown leads the team in scoring with 11.7 ppg and is shooting just under 55%, while Clark was voted to the PacWest Top 10 Honor Roll for the week; she averaged 8.5ppg in two games and eight rebounds.


SCOUTING THE ANTELOPES*
The Urban Knights challenge does not get any easier following their bout with Dixie State. AAU faces defending PacWest Champs Grand Canyon University on Mon Jan. 18. Grand Canyon has also won their last three games and just recently knocked off BYU-Hawaii. The Lopes had two players named to the Top 10 Honor roll for their games last week. Gibson helped lead GCU to a 2-0 week by averaging 18.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per game. She led the league in scoring and tied for 10th in rebounding. She shot 65 percent from the field, second in the conference, and had 11-of-13 free throws (84.6 percent). Murphy averaged 17 points and five rebounds in victories over Chaminade and BYU-Hawai'i. She tied for fifth in the league with 4.5 assists per game and sixth with three steals. She also hit 10-of-11 free throws (90.9 percent) and ranked seventh in assist/turnover ratio (1.8). LAST GAME RECAP
The Academy of Art University women's basketball team was on the losing end of a battle with the visiting Hawaii Pacific University Sea Warriors tonight at Kezar Pavilion in San Francisco, CA; dropping their second match in conference play 73-54. For the Urban Knights, Lorraine Etchell led the pack with 16 points, two assists, and one steal. Jessica Nolan added nine points, six rebounds, one assist and four steals. Tianna Chaidez chipped in eight points off the bench, knocked down 2-5 from the three-point line, dished out two assists, and had two steals.
