LET'S GET IT STARTED
The Urban Knight women's basketball team is set to open up their 2010-11 regular season against Cal State LA on their home court of Kezar Pavilion. The Eagles, who went 4-23 last season, will be ART U's first test against Division II competition this season.

LOOKING AHEAD
After taking on the Golden Eagles this Sunday Nov 14. the Urban Knights participate in three tournaments on the road. First stop is Chico, CA where they take on CCAA powerhouses, host Chico State University and Sonoma State University. The following week ART U travels to Oregon where they will take part in the Willamette Tournament. A preseason single match-up against Holy Names University on Dec 4, will prepare the Urban Knights for their final tournament before heading into conference. ART U will play in the CCAA/PacWest Challenge hosted by Humboldt State University.

SCOUTING THE EAGLES
The Urban Knights were one of four of the Golden Eagles four wins last season. As a team Cal State LA was outscored by their opponents by an average of 11 points per game. Cal State LA returns their leading scoring, Jazzi Johnson, the senior finished the 2009-10 averaging 13.6 points per game. Johnson shot a team-best 53% from the floor and also led the team in steals (56). Cal State LA adds two Division I transfers to their 2010-11 roster, Erika Ruiz is a transfer from St. Mary's College and Gretchen Tiernan is a transfer from University of Pacific. Both games will mark the beginning of regular season play.

KNIGHT TO WATCH
Jessica Nolan, who earned Second Team All PacWest Honors following the 2009-10 season, was voted to the 2010-11 PacWest Preseason All Conference Team. The honor was voted on by coaches around the PacWest..

In just her first season as an Urban Knight, Nolan led the team in field goal percentage, shooting an impressive 50% from the field. It was that level of consistency that was key in ART U's successful sophomore campaign. Nolan was one of three players to play and start in all 27 contests last season. “Jess is incredibly talented and has a great feel for the game,” said Yamasaki of the senior.
