Phoenix, AZ -- Returning to Pacific West Conference play last week in a series with Hawaii Pacific, Academy of Art University baseball had sophomore outfielder
Johnathan Robbins selected to the PacWest Weekly Top 10 Honor Roll. Although a five-game week was cut to three because of rainy conditions in Waipahu, HI,
Robbins stayed simply scorching at the plate. The honors were announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, May 3, for games played Apr. 26 - May 2.
The sophomore went 3-for-5 on Apr. 30 against Hawaii Pacific for his fourth three-hit contest this season. Then in game one versus the Sea Warriors on May 1, Robbins sparked a two-run rally with a double in the first inning to get AAU off to a solid start. Facing HPU's Caelan O'Meara (6-1), one of the top starting pitchers in the PacWest, Robbins finished the second contest 2-for-3 with two runs scored, one walk, and two stolen bases.
Now the proud owner of a season-high eight-game hitting streak, Robbins completed the week 6-for-12 (.500) with three runs scored, two stolen bases, one double, and one walk. He has three multi-hit games during the offensive surge that has raised his batting average to .311 (third on the team). Beyond the streak, Robbins has recorded a hit in 12 of his last 13 games, making him the hottest Urban Knight hitter of late.
This is the second selection to the PacWest Weekly Top 10 Honor Roll for Robbins.
