KNIGHTS ON THE MARCH: The Urban Knights scored early and often against Chaminade last Saturday, scoring four goals in a PacWest matchup for the first time in their short history. Add that to the 3-2 overtime victory over William Jessup last Thursday and the Knights have the beginnings of a healthy streak going. Senior
Megan Bucci had a goal and an assist, sophomore sensations
Hannah Emmett and
Margret Thorolfsdottir each had another goal to add to their impressive totals, and team captain
Erica Wheeler-Dubin added a goal to led the Knights to victory.

UP AND DOWN ARGOS: NDNU is in the midst of an up and down season, winning their first game of the year but then dropping the subsequent five matches. After a 3-3 double overtime tie against Cal Baptist, the Argos got back in the win column against Chaminade last week before losing a 2-1 contest to Holy Names last Thursday. Notre Dame is led by Massiel Castellenos, who has seven points on the year, with three goals and an assist. Marisa Schneider and Alexis Tershay both have two assists for the Argos. Academy of Art and Notre Dame de Namur faced each other twice last year, the first match stretching for two overtimes with neither team able to get on the board, ending in a 0-0 tie.
ON THE BRINK OF HISTORY: Three Urban Knights made the PacWest Top 10 Honor Roll this week, and although the conference made the selection based on their play last week, their stats also push them closer to the ART U record books. Bucci and Thorolfsdottir both sit at 8 points on the year, and current single-season points record holder
Hannah Emmett has 6. With eight games left on the year, all are within striking distance of Emmett's mark of 12 points (5 goals, 2 assists) that was set last year.
MEASURABLE IMPROVEMENT: With the victory over the Silverswords, the Urban Knights have now surpassed last year's win total and matched their program-high win total of three back in 2009. "To reach our win marker at mid-season is a great accomplishment for the team," head coach Aileen Nasypany said. I can finally see this young program taking some steps forward."
LOOKING AHEAD: After the two-game swing with NDNU this week, the Urban Knights will head to San Rafael to take on Dominican University at Forest Meadows Soccer Field. Looking further down the road, ART U heads to Arizona to take on Grand Canyon on Oct. 20 and 22.
