2011 All-PacWest Women's Soccer Team
Phoenix, AZ -- Two Urban Knights received postseason honors from their fellow members of the Pacific West Conference, it was announced on Wednesday. Sophomore midfielder Margret Thorolfsdottir was named to the All-PacWest Second Team, and senior defender Olivia Dupon was an All-PacWest Team Honorable Mention for her efforts in 2011.
Thorolfsdottir, a native of Reykjavik, Iceland, is a transfer from Franklin Pierce University (NH) who made an immediate impact in her first year as an Urban Knight. Called "Magga" (pronounced Maka) by her teammates, the sophomore finished the season with 15 points (7 goals, 1 assist), a single-season record for Academy of Art, leading the team in goals and points.
She was selected to the PacWest Top 10 Honor Roll three times (Sep. 12, Oct. 3, Oct. 10) and scored one game-winning goal in the first matchup with Dominican (CA) that the Knights won 1-0. She scored two goals in the Sept. 29 matchup with William Jessup, putting ART U up 1-0 and 2-1 before Megan Bucci won the game in OT, and had both goals in a 2-2 double overtime tie with Notre Dame de Namur on October 6.
Dupon, who hails from Portland, OR, was one of seven seniors to celebrate her Senior Day last week. Dupon has been a defensive stalwart for the Urban Knights over her years with the team, and was recognized as such by the PacWest. Starting off as a midfielder for the Knights, Dupon has four career assists and five goals, including two game-winners and a goal last Friday against Dominican. Dupon is set to graduate with her degree in Fashion Merchandising.
