Phoenix, AZ -- With the beginning of basketball season this past weekend, Academy of Art women's basketball reminded fans that success is not determined solely by offensive statistics. ART U had two players, sophomore forward

Devin London, on the first release of the Pacific West Conference Weekly Top 10 Honor Roll and the contributions of each Urban Knight were highlighted by their defensive efforts during the 1-1 week. The honors were announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ on Monday, Nov. 14 for games played Nov. 4-13.
The leading scorer for Academy of Art in both games this past week, Griggs put up 14 points against Cal State East Bay on Nov. 11 and then 12 versus Humboldt State on Nov. 12. She grabbed five rebounds and forced two steals in each game along with making all six of her free throws. The Milwaukie, OR native spearheaded both the the Knights' second half runs in the CCAA/PacWest Challenge, combining to score 18 of her 28 points during that time.
In the two contests, Griggs averaged 13.0 points and 5.0 rebounds per game. The sophomore ranked fifth in the PacWest in scoring for the week and added 2.0 steals per game as well. Her vocal leadership and determination to convert in the post as well as at the free throw line (6-of-6) energized the ART U squad throughout.
An incredible defensive performance was put forth by London in the Knights' first game of the 2011-12 season versus Cal State Easty Bay. She racked up eight steals in the contest to set a new Academy of Art program record, surpassing the previous mark of seven which had occured on multiple occasions. Not only that, the senior guard tallied six steals in the second half alone, fueling ART U's 19 points off turnovers in the period which led them to victory. London would also add 12 points and five rebounds in that game.
London led the PacWest in steals for the week after her impressive season opener and also ranked 12th in scoring. She would average 9.5 points and 4.0 steals per game in the 1-1 week for Academy of Art. The Oak Park, IL native also knocked down three 3-pointers.
This is Griggs' second PacWest Weekly honor in her career and the fourth for London.
