PacWest Release
Phoenix, AZ -- Prior to the Urban Knights entering a hostile environment and toppling No. 16 Grand Canyon this past Monday, sophomore forward
Alisa Griggs made her ninth appearance on the Pacific West Conference Weekly Top 10 Honor Roll this season including the Player of the Week honor. As a result of her 17.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game during the recent roadtrip, Griggs made it five consecutive weeks she has been named the Top 10. The honor was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ on Tuesday, Feb. 14 for games played Feb. 6-12.
The week began on Monday, Feb. 6 with Academy of Art making a second half push to pull away from Dominican and win 77-69. In that contest, Griggs grabbed all of her six rebounds in the second period and finished with nine points on the night. She got the Knights going early with a three-point play to start the second half. Four nights later, Griggs was absolutely unstoppable on the offensive end at Dixie State. Though ART U took an 80-64 loss in that one on Feb. 11, the sophomore forward went for a career-high 26 points on an equally impressive 8-for-10 shooting from the field. She put in 10 at the free throw line which tied the second highest single-game mark in program history and secured nine rebounds.
During the Knights' 1-1 week, Griggs averaged 17.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 2.0 steals per game. She ranked seventh in the PacWest in scoring and was tied for ninth in rebounding for the week. In addition, the sophomore was fourth in the conference in shooting after going 11-for-16 (68.8%) from the field.
Griggs has now collected a total of nine PacWest Weekly Top 10 selections this season which includes the Player of the Week honor that came in early January. She remains just one selection away from tying the record of 10 set by
Jessica Nolan last year. This is the 10th honor for Griggs in her ART U career.
