Phoenix, AZ -- Providing a spark off the bench, freshman guard Vianai Austin helped the Academy of Art University women's basketball team complete its upset of No. 16 Grand Canyon this past Monday, earning her a spot on the Pacific West Conference Weekly Top 10 Honor Roll. The La Puente, CA native was a key factor in ART U shooting a program record 64.3 percent from three-point range (9-of-14) in the 72-69 win. The honor was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ on Monday, Feb. 20 for games played Feb. 13-19.

Austin heated up from distance particularly late in the first half as Academy of Art used an 8-0 run to capture a 10-point advantage. The freshman guard scored nine points in the first period and then got a crucial layup with under five minutes to go in the second as the Knights managed to stay ahead of the Antelopes inside GCU Arena.

By the end of the night, Austin had offered 11 points (including a perfect 3-of-3 from beyond the arc), six rebounds, three steals, and one assist. She shot 57.1 percent from the field (4-for-7) and did all this in just 21 minutes on the floor.

This is the first PacWest Weekly Top 10 honor for Austin in her Academy of Art University career.
