PacWest Release
Phoenix, AZ -- The Urban Knights baseball team awakening bats earned them their first selection to the PacWest Baseball Weekly Top 10 Honor Roll, as
Zach Babitt's efforts against Chico State were recognized by the conference. The PacWest office announced the honors on March 14 for games contested March 5-11.
Babitt's strong season so far has netted him the best batting average on the Urban Knights, and the senior middle-infielder hit .375 in four starts during 0-4 weekend vs. Chico State. The Albany, CA native was 6 for 16 with three runs scored, a double, two RBI, two walks and a stolen base, and he currently leads Academy of Art in a number of offensive categories. He also had a .438 slugging rate and a .444 on-base mark.
Babitt is picking up right where he left off last year, when he hit .303 with a .435 on-base percentage. He is on pace to have more doubles than last year, and since moving into the leadoff hole in the series opener against Northwest Nazarene, Babitt has 15 hits in 11 games, good for a .357 average. Over that span, he has also scored seven runs and driven in four RBIs.
This marks Babitt's first selection to the Honor Roll this year, and the fourth of his career, having earned three Honor Roll selections and a spot on the All-PacWest First Team in 2011.
