Lauren Stover have both been swinging hot bats for the Urban Knights lately and they were chosen to represent Academy of Art on the most recent release of the Pacific West Conference Weekly Top 10 Honor Roll for their efforts. Each ART U athlete batted .500 in the start of conference play this past week. The honors were announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ on Thursday, Mar. 8 for games played the week of Feb. 27 - Mar. 4.
Lokey continued her tear at the plate with a strong showing against the team's first conference opponent. She produced a pair of multi-hit games in the four-part series versus Grand Canyon and posted her season-best four-game hit streak during that time. On day one against the Antelopes, the senior outfielder went 3-for-7 with a home run, three runs batted in, and three runs scored. Lokey would add another her eighth multi-hit effort the following day against GCU, going 2-for-2 with a run scored in game one. In addition, the Eugene, OR native walked four times Sunday to help her on-base percentage rise to .466 (second-highest on the team behind
Elyse Cordova's .467 mark).
Through four starts, Lokey batted .500 (5-for-10) with a home run, four RBIs, six walks, and a stolen base. It was an impressive .800 slugging percentage and .688 on-base mark she offered during the weekend series.
In the series against No. 15 Chico State, Stover started off a hit streak which continued through the Humboldt State series and was bolsted versus Grand Canyon. Four games with her single in the series opener against GCU, her hit streak became five after the sophomore infielder went 3-for-4 with a double and RBI in game two. Stover would double twice more in day two's doubleheader, going 3-for-7 in that pair of games and extending the streak to seven games. After three doubles in the series versus the Antelopes, Stover made it a total of five doubles in her past seven games at that point.
For the week, Stover also hit .500 (7-for-14) while adding three doubles, two RBIs, a run scored, and a pair of sacrifice bunts. She posted a slugging percentage of. 714 and was on base half of the times she stepped to the plate.
These are the first PacWest Weekly honors for Lokey and Stover this year. It is Lokey's seventh career selection and the third in Stover's career.
