Fletcher Makes PacWest Honor Roll After Career Outing

PacWest Release

Phoenix, AZ --
Academy of Art pitcher Kallen Fletcher was able to add another feather in his cap after his quality start last week against Hawaii Pacific. The honors were announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, April 30, for matches contested April 23-29.

The senior right-hander from Sacramento threw six innings in the longest outing of his career, and earned his first win in 2012 and second of his career as he scattered five hits over six innings and only allowed two runs, neither of which were earned. The start lowered Fletcher's ERA by almost three runs, and 2012 is proving to be his most efficient year on the mound.

"Honestly, I couldn't have done it without my team," said Fletcher after his game last week. "I'm not that strikeout pitcher, and without my defense we wouldn't have been able to get the W out there. Our pitching staff is a true pitching staff. You get that ball in your hands, and you're in control, and that's what I had to do today."

Opposing batting average is down over 80 points, and Fletcher is approaching his career high in innings pitched from last year in a season primarily spent coming out of the bullpen. This marks the first time he was selected to the Honor Roll.
