PacWest Release
Phoenix, AZ -- The Knights continued their offensive surge last week, and two Urban Knights were recognized for their performances at the plate, as
Stefen Henderson and
James Singzon were both named to the PacWest Top 10 Honor Roll. The honors were announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, April 9, for matches contested April 2-8.
Henderson hit .333 in three games for the Urban Knights, going 4-for-12 with two runs, seven RBIs, a double and a triple. He also stole two bases, had a .583 slugging rate and a .467 on-base mark, while walking three times. His five RBIs against Hawaii Hilo were a program record, breaking the previous record of four that Henderson had matched on multiple occasions.
The senior first-baseman has been coming on strong lately, riding a three-game hitting streak and raising his batting average by almost 30 points in the past two series. He recently became the leader in games played for Academy of Art (121) and also leads the program in patience, walking 66 times in his career, including 21 free passes this year.
Singzon jumped out of an offensive funk that was plaguing him earlier this year, topping Henderson's rise by adding 70 points to his batting average over the past two weeks. The catcher hit .500 in four starts for the Urban Knights, going 6-for-12 with a run, three RBIs and two doubles. Over that time he also had a .667 slugging rate and a .600 on-base mark. Singzon's week was capped off by a 3-for-3, 3 RBI performance against Cal State Stanislaus.
This was the second time on the Honor Roll for Henderson, and the first time in Singzon's career. The Knights have Spring Break off before resuming play against Grand Canyon on April 19-20.
