PacWest Release #11
Phoenix, AZ -- Returning to her efficient form from a year ago, junior
Alisa Griggs picked up her second Pacific West Conference Weekly Fantastic 15 honor in the past three weeks on Monday. Averaging nearly a double-double in the Urban Knights' 1-1 week, Griggs helped her team bounce back from a pair of tough losses. The honor was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ on Monday, Jan. 28 for games played Jan. 21-27.
The week began with a truly remarkable feat by Griggs against Hawaii Pacific (Jan. 21) as she posted a 14-point, 12-rebound double-double in just 15 minutes on the court. Much of her offense came during ART U's second half comeback that fell just short. However, the team was strong behind Griggs once again this past Saturday in a 78-45 victory over Chaminade. The Milwaukie, OR native offered 12 points, seven rebounds, and three steals in a balanced attack powered by hard-nosed defense.
For the week, Griggs averaged 13.0 points and 9.5 rebounds per game which tied her for 15th in scoring and eighth in rebounding in the PacWest. She shot 53.3% (8-for-15) from the field to rank 12th in the league during the week and shot 76.9% (10 for 13) from the line.
This is second time Griggs has been selected to the PacWest Fantastic 15 this season and it is her 13th honor of her career.
