Urban Knights Stifled By Seasiders

Box Score

Hannah Emmett
Laie, HI -- Two days after setting a season-high in goals against Chaminade, the Academy of Art University women's soccer team was held out of the goal on Monday afternoon against BYU-Hawaii. The Seasiders scored a pair of goals as time wound down in both halves while the Urban Knights were stopped in their tracks, as a couple shots on goal were close, but unable to find the back of the net.

Neither team scored for the first 38 minutes of the game, as the Urban Knights had two shots go wide in the first 20 minutes of the half. Rachael Rempe had two saves on shots by the Seasiders, but at the 38-minute mark, a corner kick from Brittney Crump was handled by Rempe, but on the way down the ball crossed the plane of the goal line, resulting in the Seasiders taking a 1-0 lead.

The second half was more of the same, with the Knights attacking early. But Megan McCain was able to turn away the Knights' advances, saving two shots from Lou Fillingham. ART U had their best chance to equalize when Miranda Corneliussen took a shot in the 73rd minute that was a couple inches high. Thirteen minutes later, the Knights found themselves a player down and gave up the second goal of the day from McKenzie Evans, assisted by Emily Barfus, to make it 2-0 with less than five minutes to play.

That would hold to be the final score, as the Knights dropped their second of four matches on their tour of the Hawaiian isles. They'll take on UH Hilo on Thursday in a Halloween afternoon matchup before finishing up the trip on Saturday against Hawaii Pacific.Â
