Rempe Makes Final 5 After ART U Shutout

PacWest Release

Phoenix, AZ --
After putting up solid numbers all year and totaling a goals per game average only marginally higher than her program-best mark set last season, Academy of Art University goalkeeper Rachael Rempe made it onto the Pacific West Conference Final 5 while contributing to the Urban Knights second shutout of the season. The conference announced the honor on Oct. 28 for matches contested Oct. 21-27.

Rempe stopped six shots from going in as the Knights defeated Chaminade 4-0, the only game last week for ART U who will have three games in Hawaii this upcoming week. Saturday also marked the first time all season that Rempe was able to take a break, playing until the 81st minute before Jessi Vargas took over to cap off the shutout.

As stated above, her goals against average for 2013 is currently 1.69, trailing her 2012 total of 1.60 by a hair. In a testament to the ART U defense also getting better, she has saved fewer shots that last season, totaling 58 saves here in 2013. She currently holds the career saves record as well, totaling 173 saves over her two years with the program.
