ART U Midfield Honored In Postseason Awards

PacWest Release

Hannah Emmett & Lou Fillingham
Phoenix, AZ -- For the second straight year, the Academy of Art University women's soccer team had a pair of honorees on the list of Pacific West Conference postseason awards. After the 2013 season, junior midfielder Louise Fillingham earned her first postseason award, a spot on the All-PacWest Third Team, while Hannah Emmett took home her second straight All-PacWest Honorable Mention in her senior campaign. The awards were announced by the PacWest offices on Thursday, November 21st.

Fillingham completed her 2013 campaign with five goals and 10 points, leading the Urban Knights in both categories this season. She made her mark this year as having a boomer of a leg off set pieces, as three of her five goals were from at least 30 yards. Her first goal of the year was in the home opener at Kezar Pavilion when she shot the ball from nearly midfield on the attack and saw it sail past the goalkeeper and into the back of the net. In her three years, Fillingham now ranks fifth all-time in points and third all-time with seven goals. This is Fillingham's first postseason PacWest honor.

Emmett ends up playing 69 games and almost 5000 minutes for the Knights, scoring the most goals (18) and most points (43) in program history. This season she ended the year with a pair of goals and an assist, netting five points, which was good for third on the team. Both of her goals were game-winners, however, as she scored the decider against Simon Fraser and Chaminade. This is the second time Emmett has been featured on the postseason PacWest awards.
