PacWest Release #13
Phoenix, AZ -- Senior
Jordan Rogers picked up her sixth Pacific West Conference Weekly Fantastic 15 honor last week for her stellar play in the first two games of Academy of Art University's recent Southern California roadtrip. The Sparks, NV native was solid offensively, rebounding the basketball, and on the defensive end during the Urban Knights' 1-1 week. The honor was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ on Friday, Feb. 8 for games played Jan. 28 - Feb. 3.
In the first game of the week against Point Loma (
Jan. 31), Rogers delivered an impressive first half, scoring seven of her 11 points in the first two minutes. After effective minutes also spent rebounding the ball, the senior added one of ART U's two long-distance blows in the final minute of the opening period. With less than a minute in regulation, Rogers made two critical free throws to push her team up by three and help the Knights maintain their eventual 74-71 victory margin.
Rogers was also an important contributor in Academy of Art's strong second half against California Baptist (
Feb. 2). Though time ran out on the comeback, the senior still scored seven of her 10 points during that period while going 3-for-6 from the field.
For the week, Rogers averaged 13.0 points and 7.0 rebounds per game. She totaled four 3-pointers made, three steals, two assists, and went 6-of-8 at the foul line.
She currently sits as the PacWest Conference's 10th highest scorer at 13.3 points per game and, though a guard, she is among the Top 20 in rebounding (5.9 rpg). Rogers ranks fifth in free throw percentage (80.0%) and 13th in steals (2.0 spg).
This is the sixth time Rogers has earned a weekly award this season and the seventh in her ART U career.
