Phoenix, AZ -- The PacWest offices recently caught up with the releasing of the baseball edition of the PacWest Fantastic 15, and in the first edition of the 2013 season, the Urban Knights had two of their relief pitchers make the cut. The honors were announced earlier this month by the PacWest offices.
In Academy of Art's first victory of the season against Cal State Dominguez Hills, redshirt sophomore
Nick Giotta and true freshman Nick Boyett were both key parts of the victory. Giotta pitched an inning and a third and did not allow a hit, earning the victory for the Knights. Boyett earned a save and didn't allow a run over 3.1 innings in that opening series.
On the season, Giotta had three straight scoreless appearances before giving up his first earned runs of the season, and has thrown in six games out of eight without an earned run. Boyett had back-to-back rough outings but since then has settled down and lowered his ERA by over three whole runs in the month of March. He got his first collegiate win against Holy Names in the marathon 12-inning contest on March 15.
