PacWest Fantastic 15
Phoenix, AZ -- Adding to his Academy of Art Athlete of the Week selection, junior
Lyle "Kalani" Brackenridge was named to the PacWest Fantastic 15, presented by the Hawaii Tourism Authority. The infielder continued his torrid second half and helped the Urban Knights to a 2-5 week. The conference announced the baseball honor on Monday, April 22, for games contested April 15-21.
Brackenridge hit .444 in seven starts for the Urban Knights last week, going 12 for 27 at the plate with six runs, a double, one RBI, three walks and a sacrifice bunt. He also went 6 for 6 in stolen base attempts, launching him to sixth in the conference in that category. His .484 on-base percentage was also an extension of his resurgence, as he has reached base in 24 out of 25 games, including an eight-game hiting streak.
Since going into the California Baptist doubleheader on March 9 batting .059, Brackenridge has raised his average over 200 points to the current .271 he's hitting now. To put that in perspective, since March 9, Brackenridge is hitting .375 (39-for-104). He has the most at-bats on the team and has played in every one of the 42 games for the Urban Knights. He had a key hit in the Knights walk-off win over Cal State Stanislaus on Sunday, singling up the middle before eventually scoring the winning run on the RBI double from
Ryan Ramirez.
This is the first selection of Brackenridge's career.
