San Francisco, CA -- With the season ostensibly starting today as the Academy of Art University women's soccer team takes on Chico State in a non-conference scrimmage, the Urban Knights got more good news from the PacWest offices on today's media day. ART U's top scorers from last year, forward Beth Barker and midfielder Hannah Emmett, were both named to the Preseason All-PacWest Team after they both earned postseason All-PacWest Honorable Mentions last season.

Barker led the Urban Knights in goals scored (7) and points (16), setting the single-season record for points in the process. She had three game-winning goals to lead the team as well, and will enter her senior year anchoring the front line for the Knights.

Emmett, Academy of Art's all-time leading scorer with 16 goals and 38 points, moved from forward to midfield this year, but did not see any drop off in her scoring from last season, tallying 14 points here in 2012 to go with her 12 points from 2011.

The two honors mark the first time that representatives from the Urban Knights have earned a spot on the preseason team. ART U will be on the field for the first regular season non-conference game on September 5 at Kezar Stadium.
