ON THE APPROACH
The Academy of Art University women's soccer team came from behind to earn their first win of the season in front of a big crowd last week against Simon Fraser, taking a 1-0 deficit into halftime but scoring twice in the second half to come away victorious. The Knights head on their first road trip of the season to Southern California this week against a pair of non-conference opponents before the start of the PacWest season.

HAWKS HIGH TO START SEASON
San Diego Christian has jumped out to a 3-0 record to start the season, notching wins against Whittier College, Occidental College, and Bethesda University, out scoring their opponents 8-1 so far. In their second game against Occidental, it was a two-person game, as Ashley Jarosin for the Hawks put both of her shots in on assists from Shayna Petterson. Petterson also scored in the first game for the Hawks.

THE USUAL SUSPECTS
Of the three goals that the Urban Knights have scored in their first two games, two of them have come from their top two career goal scorers. Beth Barker picked up her eighth career goal against Humboldt State last week, while Hannah Emmett scored her all-time high 17th goal to put the Knights ahead against Simon Fraser.

ROYALS GOING OVERTIME
Hope International has played in four games this year, and two of them have already gone to double-overtime. On September 2 the Royals beat Menlo College in two extra periods, and on September 6 they tied with Oklahoma Wesleyan 1-1. The other matches that have gone to full-time both resulted in losses for Hope International. All of the scoring has come from different people, with five different players scoring five goals. Lizzy Rivas has one of those goals, and also two assists on the year, while Jacqueline Talley has spent every minute in goal so far.

KEEPING IT CLOSE TO HOME
The Knights road trip will be their only trip away before returning home for a long stretch, not leaving the Bay Area until the end of October. They'll play a handful of away games, but against teams like Notre Dame de Namur (Belmont, CA), Dominican (San Rafael, CA), and Holy Names (Oakland, CA), none more than 25 miles from San Francisco. There will be no trip to Dixie State this season, and with the absence of Grand Canyon, the only road trip outside California will be the island-hopping Hawaii trip at the end of the year.

HEADED OUR WAY
After the trip down south, Academy of Art will start the PacWest season facing last year's conference champs, California Baptist University, on September 19. Azusa Pacific will come to San Francisco to play the Knights two days later on September 21 at CCSF.
