San Francisco, CA — The Academy of Art University women's soccer team returns home this week against Hawaii schools BYU-Hawaii and Chaminade looking to get back on the scoreboard after a tough road trip that produced three shutout defeats.
Â
The Seasiders (3-9, 2-5 Pacific West Conference) visit Thursday for a 1 p.m. kickoff at Crocker Amazon Park, and Chaminade (2-8, 2-5 PacWest) comes to CCSF Saturday for a 2:30 p.m. start.
Â
The Urban Knights (1-10-1, 1-5 PacWest) have lost five in a row, including three straight shutouts in which they have been outscored 10-0. BYU-Hawaii and Chaminade have been struggling as of late, too, however. The Seasiders have lost five in a row and the Silverswords have also lost five in a row with three straight shutouts, four overall, during the streak.
Â
ABOUT THE SEASIDERSBYU-Hawaii (3-9, 2-5 PacWest) has not won since Sept. 27 when it defeated Dominican (CA) 2-1 on the road. The Seasiders are 3-3 away from home but 0-6 in Laie, Hawaii. BYUH has outscored opponents 11-9 away from home but has been outscored 10-2 on its own pitch.
Â
McKenzie Evans is the Seasiders' top scorer with four goals and nine points (4 goals, 1 assist). Eight different players have scored this season for BYUH, including three with two or more scores. Daniela Chacon has been credited with two wins this season for BYUH, including one shutout. She has posted a 1.52 Goals Against Average with 27 saves in eight games played.
Â
ABOUT THE SILVERSWORDSChaminade (2-8, 2-5 PacWest) has been outscored 14-1 during its current five-game losing streak which includes four shutouts. Back-to-back 2-0 victories over Holy Names and Dominican (CA) on Sept. 23 and 25 are the only things keeping the losing streak from being even longer. The Silverswords will face Notre Dame de Namur on Thursday before coming to San Francisco.
Â
Just five goals have been scored all year long by the Chaminade offense and four of them have come off the feet of Twyla Hamasaki. The other was scored by Mary-Lynn Johannes, primarily a substitute. Lauren Ishii has been the sole goalkeeper this season in Chaminade's 10 contests, logging two shutouts and holding opponents to a 1.90 GAA with 57 saves.
