San Francisco, CA — The Academy of Art University women's soccer team hits the road this week for the first time in Pacific West Conference play hoping to continue its scoring ways when it heads to the Central Valley Thursday for a 7:30 p.m. matchup against Fresno Pacific.
 
The Urban Knights (1-7-1, 1-2 PacWest) have scored in four of their last five matches after being shutout in three of their first four games of the season. Goals have come from three different players during the stretch after junior forward Réa Laudat was the only player to score in the first four games of the year.
 
ART U will be looking to get back on the winning track after winning its PacWest opener on Sept. 25, 2-1 over Hawaii Pacific. The Knights will also be in search of their first road win of 2014. The team is 0-3-0 so far away from its home fields.
 
ABOUT FRESNO PACIFIC
The Sunbirds (3-5-1, 3-1-1 PacWest) are currently on a four-game unbeaten streak, including having won three in a row entering the week. This comes after beginning the year with five straight losses, including being outscored 8-0 in their first three matches of the year.
 
Rachelle Schiller is the Sunbirds' lead points-getter with six (3 goals). Bianka Garcia has notched a team-best three assists and is second with five points (1 goal, 3 assists). Nine different players have scored this season for Fresno Pacific and 14 players have made at least three starts in nine games so far. Summer Hammond has been the main goalkeeper during FPU's recent resurgence, earning three wins in three starts with six saves.

Junior midfielder Natalie Gabriel broke through Saturday with her first career goal for the Urban Knights against Dominican (Calif.), tying the game at 1-1 in the first half at CCSF. It was Gabriel's first score after only appearing in three games last season due to injury. Gabriel is third on the team with 13 shots and has started in all nine matches for the Urban Knights so far.
