2013-14 Daktronics Women's Basketball West Region All-Star Team
Portland, OR -- Sophomore
Krystal Forthan continued to make history in her debut season for Academy of Art University, earning the honor of 2013-14 Daktronics NCAA Division II West Region First Team. It is the first Daktronics award for any Urban Knight to date and comes after Forthan was named
PacWest Player and Newcomer of the Year, All-PacWest First Team, and PacWest Tournament MVP.
Forthan, who is currently riding a 15-game double-double streak, has moved up to seventh in the country in total double-doubles (16) despite playing nearly eight fewer games than virtually every name around hers on the list. Through 19 games played, she is averaging 19.5 points (would be 3rd in PacWest if met game minimums), 12.4 rebounds (1st in PacWest, 4th in the country), 2.5 blocks (would be second in PacWest), 1.7 steals (would be 10th in PacWest), and 1.9 assists per game.
Joining Forthan on the Daktronics All-Region First Team were guards Bobbi Knudsen of Montana State Billings and Haley Holmstead of Dixie State, forward Erin Chambers of Simon Fraser, and All-Region Player of the Year center Jade Blackwell of Cal Poly Pomona.
Players selected to the region first team will now be listed on the Daktronics All-American national ballot. The All-American team will be announced Monday, March 24.
The D2SIDA All-America women's basketball team is sponsored by Daktronics, Inc., an acknowledged world leader in scoring, timing and programmable display systems for virtually every sport at every level of competition. The teams are voted on by the members of D2SIDA, NCAA Division II Sports Information Directors Association.
