2013-14 USTFCCCA All-Academic TeamNew Orleans, LA -- The quintessential artist-athlete,
Jasmin Guinn of Academy of Art University Women's Track & Field was awarded 2013-14 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic honors in an announcement earlier this week.
"I'm very proud of Jasmin," head coach
Charles Ryan said. "Academic awards more than any other are a product of focus, hard work, and effort. Jasmin is the model for that on our team. She does so many things well athletically, but never allows any of that to interfere with her more meaningful responsibilities in the classroom. Academic All-American is a tough plateau to ascend to and we are all honored that
Jasmin Guinn is there representing us."
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have reached a provisional or automatic qualifying standard for the NCAA Championships in either indoor or outdoor seasons.
Leading the way for her squad, Guinn has offered a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (GPA) to date as well as a Top 50 NCAA Division II ranking in the long jump. Her career mark came at the
Pacific West Conference Track & Field Championships in late April where Guinn was crowned the individual long jump champion after delivering a provisional-qualifying 18-10.75 (5.76m) against nine other jumpers.
Also a two-sport athlete and the
PacWest's Defensive Player of the Year in women's basketball, Guinn was among a total of 422 women from 99 institutions who earned this distinguished USTFCCCA All-Academic honor for their combined academic and athletic accomplishments.
