2014-15 NSCAA College Team Academic Award Winners
KANSAS CITY, Mo. --Â The Academy of Art University women's soccer team was recognized by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) for its academic excellence during the 2014-15 school year. The NSCAA annually honors college and high school soccer programs that have excelled in the classroom, in addition to their work on the field. A total of 859 soccer teams (305 men, 554 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the NSCAA College Team Academic Award for the 2014-15 academic year.
"We are very proud of our artist-athletes and all of the hard work they put in throughout the school year while balancing soccer," said head coach
Katie Awerkamp. "They are really setting an academic standard for our program for the years to come."
ART U was one of six programs from the Pacific West Conference to receive the honor. It is the second time the Urban Knights have garnered the award with the first coming inÂ
2011.
Academy of Art returns to the pitch this weekend with a four-part Hawaii roadtrip starting at Hawaii Pacific on Saturday, Sept. 26 at 12:30 p.m. HT (3:30 p.m. PT).
