2015-2016 NSCAA Team Academic Award Winners
KANSAS CITY, MO. – The National Soccer Coaches Association of America recently announced Academy of Art women's soccer as a recipient of the Team Academic Award for the 2015-2016 season.
With a 3.25 grade point average, the Urban Knights joined a total of 914 soccer teams across all divisions to receive the honor for exemplary team performance in the classroom for the academic year.
To qualify for the award, a team must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA which is determined by adding the players' GPAs, then dividing by the number of student-athletes.
"
I am so excited for this group as we have set this as an expectation every year," said head coach Katie Awerkamp. "I applaud them for working so hard while also balancing soccer. I believe that academics is one thing that makes our group so close and supportive and it's because they all share a passion for the arts. It's such a fantastic and very well-deserved award for this group."
This is ART U's second-consecutive year winning the award and third overall (also
2011).
