2016 USTFCCCA NCAA Division Indoor Track & Field All-Region TeamNEW ORLEANS -- With the NCAA Division II Indoor National Championships only 10 days away, Academy of Art University track & field concluded its 2016 indoor regular season with a total of 33 All-Region honors as announced by the nation's foremost track and field organization on Monday. The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) awarded All-Region to the top five from each region in individual events and each member of a relay ranked in the region's top three, meaning a program-record 12 members of the Urban Knights men's squad and five women were selected.
For a men's team ranked
second in the West Region,
sixth in the country (as of Feb. 29), and third in total number of All-Region honors,
Jordan Edwards and
Mobolade Ajomale each earned awards in four events apiece (tying them for the most by any individual). Edwards and Ajomale were both recognized in the 60m, 200m, 400m, and 4x400m.
Valentin Pepiot (Mile, 3000m, DMR) and
Alexander McNally (60m, 200m, 4x400m) followed with three honors apiece while
Johnny Carter and
Craig Mattox both picked up Long Jump and Triple Jump awards. Individual All-Region honorees included
Marlon Britton (60mH),
Joshua Browne (DMR),
Kris Everett (DMR),
Pierre Fontanarosa (Mile),
Austin Murray (DMR),
Roman Skovronski (4x400m).
Keanna Moody highlighted the women's collection of honors, earning All-Region in the 60m, 200m, 400m, and 4x400m as a senior. Coming off her lifetime best in the 400m
this past Sunday,
Schae Graham earned two honors (400m, 4x400m) while
Jasmine Grace (4x400m),
Mistic Scott (4x400m), and
Rian Young-Werner (Triple Jump) each took home one apiece.
The ART U men's and women's teams will be in action at the 2016 NCAA Division II Indoor National Championships in Pittsburg, Kansas next week on Mar. 11-12.
