Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout Final ResultsÂ
VALLEJO, Calif. – The Urban Knights took a tie for third place into the second round of the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout on Tuesday and ended in fifth-place after shooting two strokes over Monday's tally.

Junior
Crystal Wang finished as the top player for the Urban Knights, improving four strokes over her day-one total (74) to finish in a two-way tie for second-place. The La Jolla native finished the day with five birdies including two in her last three holes. This is Wang's second-best finish of the season after winning the
CBU Invitational.

"I was really impressed with how Crystal took advantage of her birdie opportunities," said head coach
Elaine Harris. "She has been working on attacking the pins and I feel that has allowed her to get a lot closer."

Junior
Roxanne Matta entered round two tied for first-place after tying her career-low stroke total of 70 during the first day's action. In the second round, Matta shot a 76 (+4) which was six strokes over her previous total. The Los Angeles native tied for fourth-place overall which is her highest finish as an Urban Knight and has finished in the top ten in the previous three tournaments.

"We have been working really hard on Roxanne's wedges and putting and I definitely saw that improvement today," Harris added.

Freshman
Sabrina Virtusio finished tied for 29th after seeing her stroke total rise by two on the second day (79). Sophomore
Sterling Hawkins finished the second round with a two-stroke improvement over the first (80), while sophomore
Maria Fernanda Traboulsi improved by six strokes and finished with an 87 to land in 71st-place.

"I am excited to see the culmination of our team's efforts when we compete in the Interwest Wildcat Classic in Chico next week."

The Urban Knights will tee off in Chico, Calif. on Monday, March 14.
