WAIPIO, Hawaii – In a back-and-forth defensive battle, Academy of Art men's soccer held Hawaii Pacific without a goal for the first 75 minutes of the match. However, the Sharks managed to put one through with less than 15 minutes to play, securing a late, 1-0 victory.

In the first half, Academy of Art did well to hold back HPU's attack, limiting the Sharks to just four shots. Meanwhile, while the Urban Knights only managed one attempt in the period, but they had a pair of back-to-back corner kicks in the early goings that came close to netting a goal each time. ART U took two more corners in the half, but their efforts were thwarted on both occasions.

Hawaii Pacific began the second half with a more aggressive mindset on offense and they exhibited a shut-down defense. The Sharks held ART U to two shots in the period while taking five themselves, eventually finding the net in the 76th-minute. The goal took place off of a corner kick, allowing Jacob Mallach to head the ball in for the match's first and final goal. The Urban Knights had two more opportunities in the 77th and 78th-minutes on a pair of corner kicks. However, neither attempt resulted in a score and ART U fell 1-0.

Overall, the Urban Knights were held to three shots in Thursday's match despite a total of six corner kicks. Senior midfielder

Kris Jensson amassed three saves. With the loss, ART U falls to 3-5-1 overall and 2-3 in the PacWest.

Academy of Art now returns home after going 1-2 during their Hawaiian-stay. There, they will head to UC Santa Cruz on October 10 before hosting a pair of matches against Dixie State and Concordia (October 12 and 14).
