Gilly Miller Makes D2CCA All-West Region Second Team

2022 D2CCA All-West Region Teams (Full Release)

0POMONA, Calif. –
Nearly a week after he was named to the All-Pacific West Conference Second Team, the postseason awards continued to roll in for Academy of Art men's soccer junior midfielder/forward Gilly Miller who has earned a spot on the Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) All-West Region Second Team as announced on Tuesday.

"We're delighted Gil has received the award of All-West Region Second Team," said Head Coach Danny Kirkland. "His attitude, application and professionalism on a daily basis have led to this and it's pleasing that his achievements and performances have been acknowledged. Individually, Gil has been excellent this season, but now this award sets him a great platform to build off going into next year and he has even higher goals to achieve in his senior season. Congrats Gil!"

It was a record-setting campaign for Miller, who led Academy of Art in all offensive statistical categories this year and became the only Urban Knight in program history to score 10 goals in a season while also re-writing the points record with 26. He memorably broke both of the records within the same match, doing so when he netted a brace against Fresno Pacific on Oct. 27, his second consecutive two-goal performance after doing so against Holy Names on Oct. 23. Additionally, the six assists Miller tallied were not only a career best, but are the second-most in a single ART U campaign. Two of his goals went down as game-winners for Academy of Art, and he produced a season-best point streak of four consecutive matches.

Across the PacWest, Miller ranked tied for first in assists (fourth in the West Region) and tied for second in goals (third in the West Region), second in total points (third in the West Region), third in points per game (1.44), second in shots (58 total and 3.22 per game), and second in shots on goal (32 and 1.78 per game).

Already with two All-PacWest honors to his career (2020, 2022), this is the first All-West Region honor in Miller's career. While he is the second Urban Knight in program history to be named to an All-West Region Team, joining Andrew "Boomer" Cruz who was named to the 2010 NSCAA All-West Region Third Team, Miller is the only All-West Region Second Team selection in program history.
