THIS WEEK IS FOR THE BIRDS
Only two non-conference matches remain before the start of Pacific West Conference play begins, as Academy of Art women's soccer will travel to Fresno for a battle with the Sunbirds before returning to San Francisco to play host to Holy Names.

KICKOFF
The battle with FPU on Saturday will be a showdown under the lights with kick off commencing at 7 p.m., while it will be an early start against HNU on Wednesday with game time set for 10 a.m. Remember to follow @ARTU_Knights via the athletics app (Apple App Store, Google Play Store) and on Twitter & Instagram, as well as "Like" the Urban Knights on Facebook for score updates, videos, and recaps.

KNIGHT WATCH
Raquel Calvo MendezHalfway through the non-conference portion of its season, Academy of Art has met three California Collegiate Athletics Association opponents in Chico State, Sonoma State, Cal State Monterey Bay and SF State, with NCAA Division III UC Santa Cruz in between. Tallying the lone goal on the season for ART U thus far is redshirt sophomore forward Hannah Moore, doing so in unassisted fashion when she was able to get her foot on a clearance attempt from the UC Santa Cruz goalkeeper, with the ball resulting in the net to give the Knights its first lead on the scoreboard this campaign.

Defensively, freshman goalkeeper Alicia Calderon has produced a total of 40 saves in her five starts this season, making at least five saves per game (8.0 per match) in her 450 minutes between the pipes. Last time out on the pitch was the best performance of her young career, making double-digit saves for the first time this season with a total of 11 against the Gators.

FLYIN' FRESNO
Fresno Pacific sits level 2-2-2 six matches into the season, most recently coming off of a 2-1 win on Sept. 15 over Cal State Dominguez Hills after they played to a scoreless draw against Cal State San Marcos on Sept. 8. For Sunbirds have scored five goals this season, but Tori de Leon is the only to score multiple with two on the season. Thanks to an assist De Leon also leads the team in points with five, while Maria Eie Magnusdottir trails closely behind with a total of four points, having netted one goal and leading the team with a pair of helpers. ART U is expected to see Monique Navarez between the posts for Fresno Pacific, as she has a .643 save percentage and a 1.03 goals against average in five matches. Having won each of the last three meetings, Fresno Pacific sits in front of Academy of Art in the all-time series between the two teams, 10-1-1.

OH HAWK NO
Having great early season success is Holy Names, as they enter the match up with Academy of Art at 4-1-0 thanks to their most recent win, a 1-0 decision over Pacific Union College. That victory helped avenge a lost the previous time on the pitch against Cal Poly Humboldt when they lost by an identical score of 1-0, and was their fourth shutout win of the season as they won each of their first three matches by scores of 2-0. Scoring the majority of the goals this season for HNU is Zinet Siddiqi, netting four of the seven goals scored by the Hawks to also lead the team in points with eight. Alexis Aguilar will be the projected goalkeeper for HNU, as she has allowed just one goal on 40 shots faced while producing 21 saves for a .955 save percentage and 0.22 goals against average. Academy of Art leads the all-time series with Holy Names 8-4-1 thanks to winning each of the past four matchups, as the Urban Knights have allowed just one HNU goal over that span (11 ART U goals).

CALDERON REGISTERS 11 SAVES IN 1-0 DEFEAT AT GATORS' HAND
Sunday's local non-conference battle of Academy of Art women's soccer and SF State began with 71 minutes of scoreless action, but despite a season-high 11 saves from freshman goalkeeper Alicia Calderon, a goal in the later stages led the Gators to the 1-0 victory out at CCSF Soccer Field.

LOOKING AHEAD
PacWest play begins in Hawaii for the Urban Knights, as Academy of Art will play three matches in six days when they face off against Hawaii Pacific, Chaminade, and UH Hilo beginning on Sept. 26.
