Knights Wrap Up First Day Of SMU Bishop Invitational

DUPONT, Wash. – In the first two rounds of the SMU Bishop Invitational, the Urban Knights collected 21 birdies total as a squad as the Academy of Art men's golf team find themselves in 16th place by day's end. 

Junior Giulio Zanichelli, the 2024 PacWest Golfer of the Year, leads ART U through the first two rounds with his 1-over-par 145 as his second round 2-under-par 70 improved by five strokes compared to his first play through The Home Course. Freshman Mario Stump is next up with a 7-over-par 151, as his first-round 1-under-par 71 tied the ART U program record with Jack Rodewald for lowest first-round score in their first collegiate tournament. 

Freshman Ekam Singh is next up as he shot a consistent 5-over-par 77 in each round for a total of a 10-over-par 154. Senior Anson Pan follows with a 13-over-par 157 while freshman Andy Chew collected a 14-over-par 158. 

Colorado Mesa holds sole possession of first place as a team through day one with a 6-under-par 570, while Dylan Bercan of UH Hilo and Cole Beyer of Colorado Mesa share first place individually as they shot a 6-under-par 138 each.

The Urban Knights will be back at it tomorrow morning to compete in the final round.
