Forthan Featured In Fourth Weekly Honor

PacWest Release #13

Krystal Forthan
Newport Beach, CA -- Krystal Forthan continued her dominant play for Academy of Art University Women's Basketball last week, helping the team add two more wins to its now nine-game string of victories. In ART U's triumphs over Holy Names and Notre Dame de Namur last week, she averaged 19.0 points, 13.0 rebounds, 3.0 steals, and 2.0 blocks per game resulting in her placement on the Hawaii Tourism Authority PacWest Final 5 for games played Feb. 10-16.

In a Feb. 13 grudge match against Holy Names, the only PacWest team to defeat the Urban Knights this season, Forthan was one of three ART U players to score nine points in the second half and finished with a packed stat line of 13 points, 12 rebounds, five assists, five blocks, and two steals. Then two days later on Feb. 15 at NDNU, she nearly had a double-double by halftime (12 points, eight rebounds) and, in the second period, stole the Argos' final inbounds pass to effectively seal the win that featured 19 points, and 13 rebounds from the sophomore.

After another against Fresno Pacific on Feb. 17, Forthan now has 10 consecutive double-doubles with 14 games thus far. And with 160 rebounds to date this year, she has officially cracked the program's top 10 single-season list and is now second on the single-season blocks list behind Katy Wade.

For the season, Forthan is now averaging 18.7 points (would be third in PacWest if met game minimums), 11.4 rebounds (would be second in PacWest), 2.1 blocks (would be third in PacWest), 1.9 steals (would be 10th in PacWest), and 1.9 assists per game.

This is the fourth PacWest weekly honor in Forthan's career after
her pair of PacWest Player of the Week honors and one previous spot on the Final 5.
