PacWest Release #11
Newport Beach, CA -- Solidifying herself as a force to be reckoned with since coming on the Pacific West Conference scene in December, sophomore
Krystal Forthan had yet another stellar week to earn her second Hawaii Tourism Authority PacWest Player of the Week honor. She averaged 18.0 points, 13.5 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks in a pair of road wins for Academy of Art University Women's Basketball. The award was selected for games played Jan. 27-Feb. 1.
Starting with a 19-point, 11-rebound performance at Dixie State on Jan. 30, Forthan was one of four Urban Knights who scored in double figures in a historic second half. She offered 12 points as part of a 61-point second period that eventually brought ART U its
98-85 victory.
Against Point Loma on Feb. 1, Forthan battled Abby Boorman, one of the conference's top rebounders, and came away with 17 points as well as 16 rebounds. She did all that in just 20 minutes on the floor and was a key contributor during the Knights' 18-0 second half run to pull away for the
81-70 win, their fifth in a row and conference-best 12th victory.
She now has six consecutive double-doubles with seven in 10 games thus far. No ART U player has ever recorded more than four straight double-doubles and Forthan herself has now appeared twice on the program's single-game top 10 list twice in the last nine days with her
18 rebounds versus Chaminade and then the 16 at PLNU.
For the season, Forthan is now averaging 19.2 points, 11.5 rebounds, 2.2 blocks, 2.0 steals, and 1.6 assists per game. This is the third PacWest weekly honor in Forthan's career after a spot on the
Final 5 last week and her
PacWest Player of the Week honor in January.
