2013-14 Daktronics Women's Basketball All-America Teams

Huntsville, AL -- Delivering more history in her first season with Academy of Art University Women's Basketball, sophomore Krystal Forthan has been named a 2013-14 Daktronics NCAA Division II All-American. She is one of 15 athletes to receive the national honor, adding to a collection that includes Daktronics West Region All-Star, PacWest Player and Newcomer of the Year, All-PacWest First Team, and PacWest Tournament MVP.

"We are very proud of Krystal and her accomplishments in her first season of competition here at Academy of Art," head coach LaNay Larson said. "Like every award, it can't be done without a team and Krystal is surrounded with a great supporting cast that plays a big part in not only her success but the success of the program. To be named an All-American in her sophomore year speaks volumes about the impact she has made and we are excited to see her improve on that in the future."

Forthan helped guide the program to its second consecutive PacWest Conference Championship and first ever regular season title. She finished the 2013-14 season on a 16-game double-double streak and sits at seventh in the country in total double-doubles (17) despite playing nearly eight fewer games than virtually every name around hers on the list.

In a total of 20 games played this season, she averaged 19.7 points (would be 3rd in PacWest if met game minimums), 12.3 rebounds (1st in PacWest, 2nd in the country), 2.6 blocks (second in PacWest), 1.7 steals (10th in PacWest), and 1.9 assists per game.

Joining Forthan on the Daktronics All-American Third Team are guards Bobbi Knudsen of Montana State Billings, Jazmine Charles of Lenoir-Rhyne, and forwards Keuna Flax of Central Missouri as well as Kristen Celsor of Harding.

The All-America teams are sponsored by Daktronics, Inc., an acknowledged world leader in scoring, timing and  programmable display systems for virtually every sport at every level of competition. The team is voted on by the NCAA Division II members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (D2SIDA).
