Jasmin Guinn was named Pacific West Conference Defender of the Week. Guinn's defense prompted numerous opportunities on the offensive end as she averaged over four steals and more than 21 points in a 1-2 week for the Urban Knights. The award was based on games played Nov. 23-29.
Starting the week with her second straight double-double (20 points and 14 rebounds) on
Nov. 24 at Cal State Dominguez Hills, Guinn notched five steals to help her team score 19 points off 14 Toros turnovers. The highlight of the week was Guinn's performance versus Cal State Monterey Bay on
Nov. 27 in which she set a new program single-game scoring record with 35 points while shooting over 60 percent from the field. Many of those points were scored in transition as the senior once again amassed five steals in the 88-68 victory. The Berkeley, Calif. native then closed the week with nine points, seven rebounds, and three steals in an overtime battle with CCAA/PacWest Thanksgiving Shootout host Cal State East Bay on
Nov. 28.
Guinn averaged 21.3 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 4.3 steals per game in the three wins for ART U. She pushed her streak of games with 3+ steals to seven and now leads the conference in steals per game (3.4), ranking 18th in the country.
This is Guinn's first career PacWest Defender of the Week award and her second weekly honor of the season after she was Player of the Week on
Nov. 16.
